Social Security Uprating: FOI release
Information requested
In respect of social security benefits increasing by 6%, 1. What correspondence has the Scottish Government received around this uprating? 2. The uprating was previously meant to be 3%, how will the additional 3% be funded? 3. Any fiscal transfers that have occurred between portfolios since the 2022-23 budget was set (i.e. any money that has been ‘moved’ since the budget was set).
Response
The answer to your request is given below and I have presented the information separately for each point. 1. What correspondence has the Scottish Government received around this uprating? I have interpreted your request as being for correspondence received from external stakeholders. I attach email correspondence received from the Scottish Fiscal Commission, with personal information redacted. 2. The uprating was previously meant to be 3%, how will the additional 3% be funded? We will fund this from within the Social Justice, Housing and Local Government portfolio. 3. Any fiscal transfers that have occurred between portfolios since the 2022-23 budget was set (i.e. any money that has been ‘moved’ since the budget was set). There have been no transfers between portfolio allocations for 2022-23 since the Budget Bill for that year was passed. The Autumn Budget Revision will be the first opportunity to amend the budget including any funding changes or transfers between portfolios. Longer term allocations for subsequent years will be detailed in the forthcoming Resource Spending Review. About FOI
