Information requested

1) Does the SPPA know the total number of retired people who are entitled to a statement? If yes what is the number? If yes what is the breakdown by service?

2) SPPA wrote to members with new timescales for resolution. On what basis did SPPA use to set these timescales? Can I get a copy of the report outlining how SPPA will achieve these new timelines?

Response

1) Yes. As of most recent count at 18 November 2025, the following retired SPPA pension scheme members are eligible to receive a Remediable Service Statement (including those who have already been sent one):

Police – 5,395 NHS Officers – 37,787 NHS Practitioners – 2,287 Teachers – 21,422 Firefighters – 1,835 TOTAL – 68,726

2) No single report outlines how SPPA expects to achieve the timescales set out in letters sent to members during October 2025. The timescales set out in letters to members were based on a combination of factors that vary by scheme, including volume of members in each scheme, specialist expert resource constraints, and unique practical issues affecting each scheme, including but not limited to: data quality issues, requirement for pension revisions prior to issue of Remediable Service Statements), and outstanding ill health reassessments by third parties appointed by employers.
