"The average (mean) annual basic pay in NHS Scotland, by gender and job family, with % pay gap, for 2019/20 and 2020/21."

Please see the table below, which again uses the Scottish Government’s definition of the gender pay gap as the difference in mean full-time equivalent basic earnings for men and women. In other words, the average (mean) annual basic pay for males is taken to be 100%. Thus, a negative pay gap figure means that average (mean) annual basic pay for females is less than for their male counterparts, and vice versa. (2) A small number of staff where the job family is ‘Unallocated / not known’ are included in the overall total figures, but not shown separately. About FOI
