Information requested

You asked for: “Could you please let me know how many local authorities in Scotland provide secondary age pupils in schools with 1:1 devices such as Chromebooks or iPads?”

Response

Decisions on the purchase and use of digital devices are made by local authorities in line with their own digital and education strategies. As a result, we do not hold detailed information on this centrally. However, through our engagement work, we are aware of 10 Local Authorities across Scotland who provide 1:1 devices for secondary age pupils.

Those Local Authorities are:

City of Edinburgh Council Falkirk Council Glasgow City Council Scottish Borders Council Midlothian Council Highland Council Aberdeen City Council Stirling Council West Dunbartonshire Council Fife Council

If you require further information about the types of devices (e.g., iPads, Chromebooks) provided through 1:1 initiatives, we recommend contacting the relevant local authorities directly, as they are best placed to provide this information.
