In 2020-21, how the £2 million capital budget was spent that was allocated under the £18.7 million Victim/Witness support budget in that year.

Response

The victim support budget has provided substantial investment to support forensic medical services, with £2 million per year over 3 years since 2018-19. In 2021/21, the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland’s Rape and Sexual Assault Taskforce provided funding to the 14 territorial health boards’ forensic medical services, for a number of elements including, to enhance existing, or to create new healthcare facilities, and to build workforce capacity. The Scottish Government has committed a total of £10 million over 4 years from 2018/19 to this important work to support survivors of rape and sexual assault.
