Information requested

1. Specifically what work did KPMG carry out on behalf of the Scottish Government as consultants in relation to the Covid vaccination programme?

2. Why were the army asked to identify and set up vaccination centres and why were these centres not identified as part of ‘programme management’ as is in the job description for the deal KPMG accepted.

Response

1. Given the scale of the unprecedented demand on health services and the need to run both the flu and COVID vaccination programme, KPMG were contracted to provide administrative support to NHS and Government officials leading on planning and delivery.

2. The armed forces provided support to help us meet the significant logistical challenges posed, and ensure that sufficient vaccination supplies are in place. The Armed Forces are supporting NHS Scotland to set up vaccination sites identified by NHS Boards, and are liaising with local health boards to assist them with their individual needs.
