COVID-19 Hospital transmissions: FOI release
Information requested
1 - Since the start of reporting on Coronavirus how many people have tested positive as a result of acquiring Covid-19 after being admitted to hospital for other conditions in Scotland. Basically how many people have acquired Covid-19 in hospital (so called hospital transmissions) 2 – How many of them have subsequently died

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported to Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland, part of National Services Scotland, with specimen dates up to 25 October 2020, was 59,000. Of these:
434 (0.7%) were reported as probable hospital onset (first positive specimen on days 8 to 14 of admission to NHS board). 1,327 (2.2%) were reported as definite hospital onset (first positive specimen date was 15 or more days after admission to NHS board).
Data on COVID-19 deaths by onset status in Scotland with specimen dates up to 30 June 2020, shows that a total of 428 patients with probable or definite hospital onset COVID-19 died within 28 days of their first positive sample.
