Information requested

You asked: "for information on the amount of prosecutions by Police Scotland for Drink Spiking, that have been made within the last five years?"

Response

There is no specific offence for 'drink spiking' . The latest available information from the Scottish Government Criminal Proceedings database shows that there were 4 offences prosecuted in Scottish courts for 'administering a substance for sexual purposes' for the period 2014-15 to 2018-19. It is possible that drink spiking could also be prosecuted under 'drugging' crimes, but our records show there have been no prosecutions for the period in question.

Police Scotland submit charge reports to the Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) who are responsible for prosecutions in Scotland. You may wish to contact COPFS at foi@copfs.gov.uk who may be able to provide further information regarding number of charges reported.
