Our vision for the Scottish Government is to be a world-leading, diverse employer where people can be themselves at work. We are firmly committed to race equality and inclusion and have embedded race equality of opportunity as a key focus in our recruitment and talent activities, and are increasingly focused on systemic change. Question 1. How many people does the Scottish Government employ? Answer: At March 2020, the number of employees in the Scottish Government core was 7368. Question 2. How many black people are employed? Answer: At March 2020, the number of employees in the Scottish Government core who self-identify as black was 32. Question 3. How many black people have been employed in last 12 months? Answer: In last 12 months between April 2019 to March 2020, we have hired 5 new individuals who have self-identified as black. Diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do in the Scottish Government. In line with our ambition to be a diverse employer and to achieve race equality, Scottish Government is now developing a Race Recruitment and Retention Action Plan. The plan will focus not only on increasing the representation of minority ethnic people, but will place significant emphasis on the experience of new and existing minority ethnic employees. It will describe our continuing actions to build a culture of inclusion and diversity and due to be published later in the year. About FOI
