Information requested

The times of discussions between Derek Mackay and Nicola Sturgeon or her advisers (making clear which: Ms Sturgeon or advisers) on February 5 or 6 2020, and please provide the time Mr Mackay resigned (verbally or in writing, and please state which).

Response

Unscheduled discussion took place between the First Minister’s advisers and Derek MacKay and the First Minister and Derek Mackay on the evening of the 5th of February during which he tendered his resignation. The meeting took place in Mr Mackay’s office, within the Ministerial tower of the Scottish Parliament. A Scottish government spokesperson confirmed on 10th February that Mr MacKay resigned verbally and not in writing. Mr Mackay called the First Minister on two occasions - 23.31 on 5th February and 16.47 on 6th February.
