Information requested

You asked for further information relating to acquittals following our FOI response 202500483505 issued 2 October 2025.

Response

In our previous response, we detailed a total of 1,664 instances of certificates that contained ORI but did not contain conviction information. You asked us how many of these made direct reference to situations in which the person had been acquitted. Disclosure Scotland does not categorise or label Other Relevant Information (ORI) based on whether an individual was acquitted. Therefore, this is not information we hold.

Of the 1,664 cases, we can confirm that the word ‘acquit’ appears in 12 instances within the ORI. However, we are unable to determine whether any of the remaining cases involved matters for which the individual was ultimately acquitted.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that Disclosure Scotland does not have the information you have requested.
