You asked for:
1 - The total number of baby boxes issued by the Scottish Government from the roll-out of the nation-wide scheme up to the date of this request, or the most recent date available.
2 - The total cost of how much the government pays to the couriers who facilitate the physical deliveries of Baby Boxes to expectant parents since the roll-out of the nation-wide scheme up to the date of this request, or the most recent date available.
3 - The total number of failed first delivery attempts of baby boxes since the roll-out of the nation-wide scheme up to the date of this request, or the most recent date available.
4 - The total cost of any re-deliveries of baby boxes, after an initial failed attempt, since the roll-out of the nation-wide scheme up to the date of this request, or the most recent date available.
Response
I enclose some of the information you requested.
1. Since the national rollout of Scotland’s Baby Boxes on 15 August 2017 up to 16 August 2019 we have delivered 100,788 Baby Boxes to families across Scotland.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. However, you may wish to contact APS Group (Scotland) at APS, 21 Tennant Street, Edinburgh, EH6 5NA, who may be able to help you. The reasons why we don’t have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter.

The Scottish Government does not have all of the information you have asked for in relation to the cost of delivery of Baby Boxes. The Scottish Government appointed APS Group (Scotland) as our management agent for Scotland’s Baby Box initiative. As our Managing Agent APS are responsible for managing the contract for deliveries of Baby Boxes.
