Information requested

Information on the terms that £2.3m was given to Fife Council to help in the regeneration after the closure of Longannet power station I believe it was awarded in 2017/2018. Also the further £300k of funding given to Fife Council for regeneration of Kincardine.

Response

The funding was provided as part of a £100 million economic stimulus package announced by the First Minister in 2016, with targeted support of £2.7 million awarded to Fife Council in financial year 2016/17 for an enterprise hub, industrial workshops and sub-regional business park to help foster economic resilience and benefit communities in West Fife affected by the early closure of Longannet Power Station. The funding award aims to create vital resources to help support new businesses in the area and help to support existing businesses to grow and diversify, providing a significant boost to the local economy, by helping to create and retain jobs.

The terms of the £2.7 million funding provided by the Scottish Government to secure investment and regeneration in West Fife following the early closure of Longannet Power Station in 2016 are set out in the attached grant letters for: Kincardine Enterprise and Business Hub £250,000 Kincardine Industrial Workshops £2,000,000 Sub-Regional Business Park £450,000
