Information requested

You asked for the current fixed mile Road Equivalent Tariff (RET) parameters, and when will RET be applied to Dunoon - Gourock crossing?

Response

The answer to your question about RET parameters is: The current RET formula is for passengers a £2 fixed element plus £0.13 per mile, and for cars a £5 fixed element plus £0.80 per mile. This formula was applied in 2013 and inflationary increases have been applied since then.

In answer to your second question: The Ferries Plan (2013-2022) stated the Scottish Government’s intention to roll out Road Equivalent Tariff (RET) fares to all lifeline ferry services. In line with the Ferries Plan, RET fares were rolled out across the routes covered by the Clyde and Hebrides contract by 2015 and, in line with an SNP Manifesto commitment, we are working to implement RET to the Northern Isles routes serving Orkney and Shetland.

However, there is currently no commitment to timing, or funding allocated, for rolling out RET on Gourock – Dunoon ferry services.
