Information requested

You asked for the following information:

The percentage breakdown of the inspection results for schools in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen City. This is for state-funded primary and secondary schools over the last year. Grouping primary and secondary schools is fine.

Response

Education Scotland gathers evidence to enable us to evaluate the school’s work using quality indicators from How good is our school? (4th edition). Quality indicators help schools, local authorities and inspectors to judge what is working well and what needs to be improved.

The quality indicators are graded by Education Scotland on a six point scale. These gradings are: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Satisfactory, Weak and Unsatisfactory.

Please see attached information as requested for the last academic year from August 2017 to June 2018. I have also provided figures from August 2018 until March 2019 for the inspections which have been published. From August 2016, Education Scotland carries out different models of inspection so the figures provided are for full inspections and also short visit inspections.
