Information requested

1. The salary, pension, and benefits awarded to the Chief Executive of the Scotland Malawi Partnership in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

2. Copies of receipts for expenses claimed by the Chief Executive of the Scotland Malawi Partnership between 2 March 2017 and 2 march 2018.

3. In addition, please provide a list of all gifts given and received by the Chief Executive of THE SCOTLAND MALAWI PARTNERSHIP in 2016, 2017 and in January and February of 2018.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the salary, pension, and benefits awarded to the Chief Executive of the Scotland Malawi Partnership because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies as the information relates to the personal information of the Scotland Malawi Partnership CEO, and it's release would contravene the DPA. The reasons why that exemption applies are explained below. I have, however, included a table of indicative salaries of SMP staff that I hope will be of use. Some of this information was previously released to you in a previous FoI request (FoI/17/01072), but I have included it here for your convenience, and included the additional year in your current request.

The reasons why that exemption applies are explained below. An exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
