Information requested

Is there a report anywhere summarising the cost of e-counting in the 2012 local elections, including the Scottish Government costs and the costs to the councils? Is there or will there be equivalent information collated for last year's elections?

Response

The Scottish Government has not published any reports that summarise the costs of e counting in the 2012 and 2017 local elections.

Local authorities fund local government elections directly and therefore the only expenditure figures held centrally relate to the electronic counting projects, which include an element of reimbursement to local authorities. I have attached a document that sets out the total costs to the Scottish Government of e-counting in 2012 and 2017 along with the amounts reimbursed to each local authority in respect of their core e-counting costs.
