Internal complaints registered by civil servants: FOI release
Information requested
Information requested about any internal complaints registered by civil servants on the Scottish Government's interpretation/use of FOI legislation, in particular complaints regarding special adviser or ministerial interference. You confirmed on the 12 February 2018 that this request should cover the last 6 months.
Response
This response covers Scottish Government Core Directorates.
Between 1 August 2017 – 31 January 2018 we received no formal complaints from civil servants on the Scottish Government's interpretation/use of FOI legislation.
Civil Servants can raise complaints under the 'Raising a Concern under the Civil Service Code and Whistleblowing Policy'.
They can also raise complaints under the Fairness at Work policy which includes complaints about unfair working methods, conditions and workloads.
Both policies allow employees to discuss this informally with their line manager. There is no requirement to report or record informal action.
The Civil Service Code sets out the standards expected of staff and they must adhere to its core values of integrity, honesty, objectivity and impartiality.
