Information requested
The average time a trustee is in place from initial date of award of bankruptcy until the trustee's final discharge from 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2016.

The answer to your question is shown in the following table, which shows the average time a trustee is in place by type of personal insolvency. This is for personal insolvencies awarded between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2016.

1. For all personal insolvencies awarded between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2016 and with relevant discharge dates. Average time trustee in place based on difference between date of award of personal insolvency and relevant discharge date for trustee.
2. Based on trustee discharge date.
3. From 1 April 2015 income contribution for debtors was extended from three years to four years. For bankruptcies awarded after this date a trustee will remain in place for a longer period compared with bankruptcies awarded before 1 April 2015, all other things being equal.
4. Results for Low Income Low Asset (LILA) bankruptcies (the predecessor to MAP bankruptcies) are not available. The expected time for a trustee to be in place for a LILA bankruptcy was around one year. MAP bankruptcies replaced LILA in April 2015.
