Information requested

You asked for the amount of funding provided to Stonewall in the financial years ended 31 March 2015 and 31 March 2016 and in the current financial year to date, and for what purpose this funding was provided.

Response

The answer to your question is set out below. Please be advised that the Scottish Government does not fund Stonewall, but has provided funding to Stonewall Scotland, and that it is this organisation that the information below refers.

2014-15: £100,000 2015-16: £100,000 2017-18: £90,000

In 2014-15, this funding was to support the Good Practice Programme which provided practical and targeted support to public bodies in Scotland, helping them to fulfil their legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 in terms of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Funding in 2015-16 was for a project to facilitate better LGBT inclusion in public life focused on three key areas: access to health and social care services, reporting hate crime, and post-16 education and training.

In 2017-18, funding for the enhancing LGBT inclusion in Scottish public life project aims to address discrimination through work to support public service providers to meet the public sector equality duty, and post-16 education and training providers on the needs of LGBT young people preparing to enter the workforce.
