The Scottish Government has a pay and grading system which has nine Pay Ranges within three broad Pay Bands. A job evaluation and grading system is used to assess the overall range of skills, knowledge, qualification etc. required to undertake roles at each pay range, i.e. the 'job weight'. There is no corporate policy around job titles and it is the responsibility of business areas to determine an appropriate description for each role within their structure taking account of the job weight.
The positions within your request can fall anywhere within the Scottish Government pay and grading structure depending on the specific duties and responsibilities assigned to the role.
The pay ranges with effect from 1 August 2017 are presented below. The policy expectation is that new recruits would be placed at the minimum of the pay range.
