Correspondence regarding changes to BBC online articles: FOI release
Information requested
You asked how many times Scottish Government communications staff and special advisers contacted (by phone or email) the BBC regarding changes to online articles for each month in 2017 and for the information broken down to include a link to the story, how many times the BBC were contacted regarding each story, and any listed reasons for the contact.
Response
We do not hold a record of requests made to the BBC regarding changes to online copy. I enclose a copy of email exchanges you requested. In addition, one colleague provided a return saying they spoke to the BBC and asked them to change their online copy for the Labour Market Statistics published on 16th of August because the BBC had published incorrect figures. This was followed by a letter to the BBC from the Chief Statistician, a copy of which I also enclose. These news stories can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/scotland. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.
