The number of FTE staff directly employed by the Scottish Government in every year and the total pay bill from 2006 to 2016.

The number of FTE staff directly employed by the Scottish Government Core Directorates (excl agencies) on 31 March every year from 2006 to 2016 is as below.

You should note that between April 2008 and April 2009 there were staff transfers that affected the FTE numbers in the table . Staff from Communities Scotland, Scottish Buildings Standards Agency, Scottish Agricultural Science Agency have been absorbed in to the core Scottish Government. Disclosure Scotland staff transferred from Strathclyde Police to core Scottish Government then to the new Disclosure Scotland Agency.
In April 2008, 336.84 FTE staff from Communities Scotland were absorbed in to the core Scottish Government. 31.76 FTE staff from Scottish Building Standards Agency transferred to core SG. In July 2008, 141.07 FTE Staff from Scottish Agricultural Science Agency (SASA) transferred to core SG. In October 2007, 127.08 FTE staff transferred from Strathclyde Police in to core SG on TUPE transfer terms. In April 2009 294.08 FTE staff from Fisheries Research Services and 293.53 FTE staff from Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency were absorbed in to Marine Scotland, part of core SG. 88.21 FTE staff from Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland were absorbed in to core SG. 145.54 FTE staff transferred out from core SG to form the new Disclosure Scotland Agency. The total pay bill for staff directly employed by the Scottish Government Core Directorates (excl agencies) from 2006 to 2016 is as below,
