Information requested

Permanent Secretary, Directors General and Directors' international travel in 2024– 25 and 2025–26, a breakdown of the purpose, cost, size of party and justification, including dates of travel, reasons for travel over weekends, the class of travel, and whether a given journey was the cheapest option available to the public purse.

Response

The attached table provides a breakdown of the international journeys undertaken in the financial years 2024–25 and 2025–26 by Senior Civil Service staff at Director level and above.

Some of the information, relating to whether or not a fare paid was the cheapest option available, is not held. This is because we do not hold records of the range of all available fares at the time of booking. In addition, some class of travel information is not held, owing to data quality and routine disposal of records. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that we do not hold that information.
