Lord Lieutenants and their deputies in Shetland spend: FOI release
Information requested
Can you tell me how much is spent on providing the current Lord Lieutenant and their deputies in Shetland since the Lord Lieutenant Lindsay Tulloch took over the role on 3rd April 2024? Provide a breakdown of each of their wages and expenses. How much has been spent to provide Lord Lieutenants and their deputies in Shetland over the last five years? Provide a breakdown of wages and expenses for each of these people.

I should explain that Lord-Lieutenants in Scotland as His Majesty The King’s representatives in the Lieutenancies give their time to the office voluntarily and are not salaried, they may claim expenses for costs arising from the discharge of their duties. Deputy Lord-Lieutenants in Scotland are not reimbursed for their expenses.
In addition, in Scotland, some Lord Lieutenants receive non-financial support from their Local Authorities. This is not the case for each Lieutenancy but I can confirm that this does apply in Shetland.
The figures below detail the Lord-Lieutenant of Shetland’s expenses for the time period requested from the appointment of Mr Tulloch on 3 April 2024 to the date of your request on 19 January 2026.
Financial Year 24/25: £4,854.25 Financial Year 25/26: £1,148.45
Total: £6,003.10
In addition to this figure, Mr Tulloch has also submitted a further expenses claim in Financial Year 25/26 for £523.38. This has yet to be processed and paid so is not yet an expense to the Scottish Government. It will be processed and paid within this Financial Year so will, in time, be a cost to the Scottish Government in FY25/26.
