Transport Scotland - Maintenance budget for the A9: FOI release
Information requested
The maintenance budget for the A9 in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025.
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested.
Transport Scotland does not hold the information requested because Budgets for maintenance activities are not allocated on a route-by-route basis. Instead, maintenance works are planned and agreed based on the type of work required and the needs of the trunk road network as a whole for the relevant financial year, rather than being assigned to individual routes.
This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested.
This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
Notwithstanding the above, in assuming it may be helpful, we have provided details of the expenditure for maintenance of the A9 trunk road for the period 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 up to September 2025. Figures from October onwards are not yet available.
Financial Year Spend 2020/21 30,851,625.81 2021/22 28,231,767.22 2022/23 28,107,203.63 2023/24 31,002,115.66 2024/25 43,295,582.94 2025/26 25,853,287.01
