Information requested

Scottish Government employees Pay increases Inc if pay progression is in place and continuing financial year beg April 2025 including an approx overall % pay rise equivalent across all standard grades and also separately for senior (heads of departments).

Response

The public sector pay policy sets the framework against which discussions relating to the 2025-26 pay award are held for delegated grades. While there is no formal timescale, the joint aim of the Scottish Government and recognised trade unions is to reach agreement on the 2025-26 pay award and implement the outcome as soon as possible after 1 April 2025. We have interpreted ‘senior (heads of departments)’ to mean Senior Civil Service (SCS). SCS pay is reserved to Cabinet Office and any pay increases are awarded by them following receipt of recommendations from the Senior Salaries Review body. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have information you have requested because no pay award has been agreed for either, our delegated grades or SCS staff, for 2025-2026. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
