Information requested

1. What was the newly-qualified (NQ) salary at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, and what was the pension contribution, in each year from 2010 to 2024 inclusive. 2. What was the NQ salary, and pension contribution, for Scottish Government solicitors across the same time period. 3. What was the NQ salary, and pension contribution, for Public Defence Solicitors Office solicitors across the same time period? 4. What was the legal aid rate for meeting clients per hour, for Civil Advice and Assistance in the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2024?

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested in relation to questions 1, 3, and 4.

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) may have the information you are looking for in relation to question 1, and the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) may have the information you have requested in relation to questions 3 and 4.

Response to Q2

You have asked for the newly qualified salary and pension contribution for Scottish Government solicitors from 2010 to 2024 inclusive. While we employ solicitors at C1, C2, and SCS1 and SCS2 grades, newly qualified (NQ) solicitors are employed at C1 grade.

The attached spreadsheet sets out the C1 pay scale from 2010 to 2024 inclusive.
