Adult Disability Payment applications: FOI release
Information requested
I note that in a previous response you provided the number of ADP applicants who died before their application was approved in 2023. I also note that in response to a follow up request you provided the date those people made their request, the date their application was approved and the date on which Social Security Scotland was informed of the person’s death.
Based on this information, I am requesting the following information about ADP (Adult Disability Payment):
Request for Information 1: The number of ADP applicants who died prior to the approval of their application in 2022 and in 2024.
Request for Information 2: The date of when each applicant had applied for ADP.
Request for Information 3: The date each application was approved.
Request for Information 4: The date Social Security Scotland were informed about the applicant's death.
Please reflect in two tables. One for 2022 and one for 2024.
Response
Request for Information 1: There have been 41 cases were an applicant died prior to the approval of their application in 2022, and 22 cases in 2024.

There are 16 occasions where at the time of making a decision, we had not been made aware of the applicants death. For these, you will see on the attached document that the date of death notification is after the date of decision.
It should be noted that this data is drawn from management information, which has not been quality assured to the same level as that in our Official Statistics publication. As such, these figures should be interpreted with caution.
