Redress Scheme payment application statistics: FOI release
Information requested
During the period December 2021 – January 2024:
1. How many Redress payment applications have been received by Redress Scotland and, of these, how many applications were made without an appointed legal representative? (i.e how many applications were made by individuals without the aid of a lawyer?)
2. How many Redress payment applications made by a legal representative resulted in a level 5 payment (£100,000)? (i.e how many Redress applications made by a lawyer, on behalf of an applicant, resulted in the individual receiving £100,000?)

The answers to your questions are:
1. Applications for the Redress Scheme are received by the Scottish Government and passed to Redress Scotland for determination. Applications are received by the Scottish Government with varying levels of completeness. As of 31st December 2023, there have been 3284 applications received by the Scottish Government. The table below details the information you have requested on legal representation.
