Information requested

Specify each project that has benefitted from the performance penalties imposed on CalMac since CY01 (Oct 16-Sept17). The list should include details of the project, and what the benefit is and the total cost of each.

Response

I enclose the information you requested.

Performance and reliability is reviewed and collated monthly. At the end of each Contract Year, the value of performance deductions is refunded to Transport Scotland and offset against the grant subsidy of that paid to operate the ferry service. Funding across Government remains pressured and although we note the calls around the CalMac performance deductions these are used to offset unfunded pressures in the ferry budget.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.

Unfunded pressures are not directly associated or attributed to the refund of performance deductions from operators.
