Response

In relation to questions one and three, invitations to the Coronation were the responsibility of the Lord Chamberlain’s office in the Royal Household. The Scottish Government was invited to nominate 40 people for consideration by the Lord Chamberlain. This was handled by Scottish Government officials. The names that were submitted are set out in the attached documents. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we have withheld the names of a small number of individuals people who do not have a public profile. We have used the FOISA exemption 38 (1) (b) (personal information) apply to that information. The reason this exemption applies is explained in the Annex to this letter.

In addition, a further eight names representing various Scottish organisations were separately identified by the Department for Culture Media and Sport but did not count towards the Scottish Government allocation. These individuals are identified in the attached documents.

In relation to question two, no information is held by the Scottish Government. This is formal notice under section 17 (1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

In relation to question four, the guest list for the Coronation was the responsibility of the Lord Chamberlain’s office.
