Information requested

You asked to know how much support from public funds Dundee Airport has received over the past five years, broken down by both year and funding stream.

Response

The Scottish Government does not provide funding directly to Dundee Airport. Dundee Airport is operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL). We provide funding to HIAL to offset the difference between the cost of operating their 11 airports and their commercial revenue. We provide funding to HIAL as a whole and it is then for HIAL to allocate this funding to each airport on an as needed basis. The net funding provided to HIAL over the last five years is shown in the following table.

Year Revenue (£) Capital (£) 2012-13 17,900,000 4,140,000 2013-14 14,712,074 7,008,000 2014-15 20,125,000 13,968,946 2015-16 20,294,000 18,120,000 2016-17 15,171,000 11,017,076

In 2015-16 Scottish Enterprise provided £20,150 to Dundee Airport for market research. While we are not aware of any other payments from public bodies to Dundee Airport over the last five years, you may wish to contact organisations such as Scottish Enterprise, VisitScotland, Tactran and Dundee City Council to confirm.

For comprehensive information about Dundee Airport you may wish to contact HIAL. Dundee Airport Limited's Annual Reports can be viewed at: HIAL Annual Report
