Director General Economy budget data: FOI release
Information requested
I would like a full breakdown of all the budgets and outturn for each directorate under DG Economy going back to 2018-19.
I would also like to know how this is split between resource, operating costs, capital and financial transactions.
Response
While our aim is to provide the information wherever possible, in this instance, we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested. The reasons why we don't have the information are explained below.
Financial data for the Scottish government, including the annual Scottish Budget, is recorded on a Financial Year basis running from 1 April to 31 March. With that in mind, I have interpreted your request in relation to data from 1 April 2018.
I have highlighted key points in the attached document, but to summarise what this data includes:
Final Outturn figures for DG Economy from 2018‑19 to 2023‑24, and Provisional Outturn for 2024‑25, as the Final Outturn for 2024‑25 has not yet been concluded. Budget position for DG Economy from 2018-19 to 2024-25, all being the final budget figures after the relevant period's Autumn and Spring Budget Revisions. The data is presented on an HMT basis, meaning it reflects spend against HM Treasury control totals for Resource, Capital and Financial Transactions, and is prepared on a resource accounting basis in line with HMT’s Consolidated Budgeting Guidance. As shown in the data, there have been structural changes each year, which means comparisons between years may not be directly possible. Operating Costs have been extracted where available. For 2018‑19 and 2019‑20, Operating Costs were not reported separately.
