Information requested

I am trying to pull together a range of statistics for South Lanarkshire related to alcohol and drug misuse and I have been looking at the road accident information - as shown in the road accident spreadsheet

I was wondering whether it would be possible to obtain the data for South Lanarkshire from 2003 to 2023?

As you will also see, I could not find Scotland level data on the numbers of accidents / collisions where illegal alcohol levels were involved for 2023.

Response

I have now updated your spreadsheet with information held by Transport Scotland, including updated figures for collisions and casualties for both South Lanarkshire and Scotland.

Please note, as a result of changes that have been made to the system for collecting injury road collisions contributory factors (and resultant changes in our database), the figures in the contributory factors tables in the attached now include pedestrians who were assessed as being affected by alcohol or drugs, as well as drivers.

As far as the collisions and casualties involving illegal alcohol levels for South Lanarkshire are concerned, Transport Scotland does not hold this information. Transport Scotland only receives Scotland-level figures from the Department for Transport. Due to the fact that the figures are estimates they are not available at a more detailed level. The figures for 2022 are the latest that are available.
