Supportive measures to mitigate the impacts of housing emergency: FOI release
Information requested
You requested a summary of the key changes that the Scottish Government believe are required to end the Housing Emergency.
You also requested a summary of the metrics being used by the Scottish Government to monitor this change, and report on their status at the outset of the emergency, their current status and the status that will indicate success.
Response
The Scottish Government is prioritising a range of supportive and interventionist actions in partnership with local government and other partners to mitigate the impacts of the housing emergency. The Cabinet Secretary made a statement to Parliament on Thursday 22 May 2025, providing an update on the Scottish Government’s response to the Housing Emergency.
We continue to work with local authorities, partners and stakeholders to understand when they consider they will be able to move beyond an emergency response. We have extended membership of our Housing to 2040 Board with all members playing a key role in addressing the Housing Emergency. We will use fora such as this to bring experts together to inform decisions around next steps.
