Deposit Return dispute resolution referrals: FOI release
Information requested
1. I request a detailed breakdown of the Deposit Return breakdowns each month for the last five years for all deposits that have gone to Arbitration.
2. This will show what proportion of money each month is going to Landlords and how much is going to Tenants.

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested:
We do not hold data on the number of deposits that have gone to arbitration (reported by the schemes as dispute resolution) each month for the last five years. We do, however, hold data on how many referrals are made each year for dispute resolution provided by the tenancy deposit schemes in their annual reporting. The percentage of the total referrals which are awarded to the landlord, tenant or where the award is split between the two is also provided. This can be found alongside the average value of these awards in the tables below.
