Information requested

I'd like to request information through FOI legislation.

Could you supply all analysis undertaken on each target of the Road Safety Framework to 2030, and whether it has been achieved, and the current progress made on this, as well as whether it is likely to be achieved or fail?

i.e a 50 per cent reduction in fatal and serious injuries and a 60 per cent reduction in child fatal and serious injuries by 2030.

Response

In February 2021, the Scottish Government published a new Road Safety Framework running until 2030. As well as a wider suite of indicators, the framework has four main targets for delivery in 2030.

These are assessed against a 2014-2018 baseline. There has been improvement in performance for each indicator since the baseline. However, we are not currently on track to meet any of the targets. The following table shows the current progress that has been made towards the targets for each category of severity. I also attach a file that provides charts showing the progress being made, and the analysis underpinning this.

Progress towards the four headline national casualty reduction targets for 2030.

Target 2030 Target Reduction 2024 Achieved Reduction to Date Performance status People killed 50% 7% Not on track to meet target People seriously injured 50% 27% Not on track to meet target

Target 2030 Target Reduction 2024 Achieved Reduction to Date Performance status Children (aged < 16) killed 60% 35% Not on track to meet target Children (aged < 16) seriously injured 60% 38% Not on track to meet target
