The briefing to the Cabinet Secretary SJHLG relating to the Ministerial Statement on Strengthened Fire Alarm Standards on 19/01/2022. Please also provide the documents relating to (summarising, briefing, or demonstrating work undertaken):

The details of the discussions with the ABI about the practises in the insurance industry The documentary evidence of the works/investigations done by civil servants checking the availability of devices, and assessment of the costs of the equipment. All other reports about care and repair allocation, expenditure, and installations

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested. An exemption(s) under section 38(1) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. Section 38(1)(b) applies to the names and contact details of officials, below the level of the senior civil service, and office holders in other organisations, This personal information is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. Please note that the information on allocation from Care and Repair Scotland relates only to the original grant of £500,000. Care and Repair Scotland have not yet advised on the allocation of the additional grant. Final figures are not yet available for the expenditure and installations, but Care and Repair advise that, so far, that free alarms have been provided to 900 households and 627 households have had the subsidised alarm installed This does not include installations that are in progress, and does not cover the full expenditure of the original grant.
