Transport Scotland A96 Corridor Review costs and responses: EIR release

“Please provide the total costs to date of the A96 Corridor Review, including:
All costs originally included within the scope of the A96 Corridor Review; and
Any subsequent work undertaken in relation to consultation, assessment, or development of options concerning the future dualling or alternative options for the A96.
For context, the previous FOI response (available at https://www.gov.scot/publications/foi- 202500454917/ ) was received on 26 February 2025 and published on 19 March 2025.
I would be grateful if the updated figures could cover the period up to the most recent date available.”
Response
As the information you have requested is 'environmental information' for the purposes of the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs), we are required to deal with your request under those Regulations. We are applying the exemption at section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), so that we do not also have to deal with your request under FOISA.
This exemption is subject to the 'public interest test'. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption, because there is no public interest in dealing with the same request under two different regimes. This is essentially a technical point and has no material effect on the outcome of your request.
Response to your request:
The total spent on the A96 Corridor Review up to the date of your request is £6,858,371.08.
This total cost includes that spent on the comprehensive appraisal and assessment work, including development of options and consultation undertaken as part of the Review up to the date of your request.
