Forth Replacement Crossing lane restrictions: EIR release
Information requested
How many days, broken down into each month, has the Forth Replacement Crossing been subject to lane restrictions since and including January 2018?
Response
As the information you have requested is ‘environmental information’ for the purposes of the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs), we are required to deal with your request under those Regulations. We are applying the exemption at section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), so that we do not also have to deal with your request under FOISA.
This exemption is subject to the ‘public interest test’. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption, because there is no public interest in dealing with the same request under two different regimes. This is essentially a technical point and has no material effect on the outcome of your request.
The answer to your question is in Annex A below:
ANNEX A
2018 - Month Number of days where restrictions were in force January 3 February 4 March 5 April 12 May 26 June 8 July 10 August 12 September 12 Octobert 12 November 9 December 8
2019 - Month Number of days where restrictions were in force January 4 February 9 March 10 April 14 May 12 June 8
The reasons for the restrictions included in this Annex are as follows – accidents, breakdowns, roadworks and the removal of hazardous items.
The restrictions are for daytime works, overnight works, are for partial 1 or 2 lane restrictions, one way or in both directions. The duration of these restrictions range from 4 minutes to 17 days and there could be more than one restriction in place in one day.
