Information requested

I wish to make the following freedom of information request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).

I request the following information relating to the A75 and A77 roads:

1. The number of planned road closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025.

2. The number of unplanned road closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025.

3. The number of lane closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025.

4. The number of road traffic accidents reports on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025.

Response

Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs), we are required to deal with your request under those Regulations. We are applying the exemption at section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), so that we do not also have to deal with your request under FOISA.

This exemption is subject to the 'public interest test'. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption, because there is no public interest in dealing with the same request under two different regimes. This is essentially a technical point and has no material effect on the outcome of your request.

Q1. You asked for the number of planned road closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025. A1. A75: 0 closures. A77: 8 road closures

Q2. You asked for the number of unplanned road closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025. A2. A75: 0 unplanned closures. A77: 1 unplanned closure

Q3. You asked for the number of lane closures on the A75 and A77 between the 1st and 31st August 2025. A3. A75: 27 TTL/lane closures. A77: 37 TTL/lane closures (7 of which were undertaken by Utility Companies).

Q4. You asked for the number of road traffic accidents reports on the A75 and A77 during the requested dates. A4. A75: 1 accident. A77: 2 accidents (7 of which were undertaken by Utility Companies).
